The Eszterházy Castle in Fertőd is one of the most astounding sight in Hungary. The special architectural and historical monument gained its present form in the second half of the XVIII. century, based on the ideas of Miklós Eszterházy “Fényes”.
Guided tour – Central part of the castle: Ground floor + First floor + Belvedere:
The interior exhibition on the ground floor, consisting of a total of twelve rooms, is designed to evoke the era of Miklós Esterházy “Lover of Pomp”, the second heyday of the castle, furnished with authentical furniture.
In the upstairs spaces, we can get to know the work of Joseph Haydn, the court conductor and composer, in the framework of an interactive exhibition, and we can get an insight into, among other things, the suites designed for the visit of one of the castle’s most famous guests, Mária Terézia.
In the lower part of Belvedere, on the clock floor, we can learn about the history of the Esterházy family and the construction history of the castle through short films. The upper level of the Belvedere, decorated with 18th-century wall paintings, offers the most beautiful view.

Adult: HUF 4.500 / person
Students, pensioners over 65: HUF 2.750 / person
Free: under 6 years old / over 70 years old / with a valid teacher’s ID

Guided tours in English: 11am and 3pm
Duration: approx. 60 minutes + the Belvedere (lookout point) can be viewed individually.
